A clinical Chivas Femenil thrashed León at Verde Valle

28/02/2021 13:05 / Omar González

Chivas Femenil seemed to be well aware of what was at stake given other results around the league and started at full throttle against Las Panzas Verdes while giving little room to maneuver to the away team.

In minute 1 Joseline Montoya shot violently, but the ball was timely deflected by a León defender. Four minutes later, Michelle González squeezed a great ball to ‘Licha’ who failed to hit the target. Then in minute 6, Joseline Montoya found Alicia Cervantes just inside the box; however, her shot crashed into the post.

At last, the lockdown was broken via Alicia Cervantes who dribbled nicely a defender to calmly shot past Martínez. In the 27th minute, once again, ‘Licha’ outran the whole León defensive line, but the keeper saved just in time.

Just in the 40-minute mark, the referee awarded a PK for El Rebaño following a foul on Montoya, and Cervantes cashed-up nicely from the spot. A minute later, ‘Licha’ and Isabella Gutiérrez teamed up in spectacular fashion to get into the 6-yard box and the latter fired the ball into the back of the net.

During the second half, little changed as El Rebaño continued to rule over León with long-ball possessions coupled with effectiveness on the attacking front.

In minute 59, an on-fire Alicia Cervantes delivered a flashy ball to Anette Vázquez who rifled a curling right-footed shot into the woodwork though.

In the 71st minute, ‘Licha’ Cervantes put the game to rest as she got her hat-trick thanks to a solid header during a set-piece game. Three minutes later, Anette Vázquez joined the goal fest thanks to a brilliant assist by Alicia Cervantes. León pulled one back thanks to a close-range shot by Calderón in minute 80.

Chivas Femenil will travel to Tijuana, to face Xolas next Monday, March 8th as part of Matchweek 9 of Guard1anes 2021.
