Chivas continued to struggle and got a bitter defeat

From the get-go, the home team showed their offensive stance based on long ball possessions while Chivas awaited calmly aiming at a counterattack plan or so it seemed.

Cruz Azul got the game’s first chances in minute 7 as ‘Toño’ Rodríguez saved brilliantly a powerful close-range header from Rodríguez.

Six minutes later, Antonio Briseño unleashed a violent header a bit off-target following a corner-kick. By the 30-minute mark, Antonio Rodríguez saved El 'Chiverío’ goal fantastically following a point-blank shot by Rodríguez.

In minute 40, Antuna crossed the ball accurately to ‘Cone’ Brizuela whose right-footed shot failed to hit the target.

From the very beginning of the second half, 'Toño' Rodriguez continued with his display of good goalkeeping skills as he blocked effectively a long-distance shot by Martínez.

In the 50th minute, Cruz Azul went in front via Rodríguez and a close-range shot past Rodríguez. In minute 73, Macías with a long-distance shot that went above the crossbar. A few minutes later, Alexis Vega was really close to tying the game; unfortunately, his shot was wide.

Next Saturday 17th, El Rebaño Sagrado will host Xolos at Estadio Akron during matchweek 15 of Guard1anes 2021.
