Victor Manuel Vucetich, King Midas of Mexican soccer is Chivas' new coach.

When someone mentions Victor Manuel Vucetich, Chivas' new coach, the words that come to mind are successful career. Mr. Vucetich has an impressive 30-year career in Mexico's First Division with 11 clubs, some of which had been driven to excellence by the hand of 'Rey Midas'.

Born in Tampico, Tamaulipas, the 65-year-old coach played for Atlante and Oaxtepec. His coaching career began in the late '80s when two titles and promotions with Potros Neza and with Leon in the Second Division, an unequivocal omen that his career in Mexico's top-flight division would be packed with triumphs. Eventually, in recognition for his amazing work he was dubbed with the nickname 'King Midas' of Mexican soccer.

Victor Manuel Vucetich has also stood out for his great ability to maximize available resources and turn them into very solid, compact, and highly effective teams, the latter is backed by 5 League Titles, 3 Cup Titles, 3 Concacaf Titles, and 1 Interliga Title during 3 decades as a coach.

Vucetich was the one who gave back Leon's success during the 1991-92 season, then he led Tecos to their first championship title in the 1993-94 season, followed by an outstanding performance with League Leaders, La Piedad, in Verano 2002. In the Apertura 2003, 'Vuce' achieved another title with Tuzos; moreover, he was the architect of Monterrey's golden age with two league titles in the Apertura 2009 and 2010, and three Concacaf Titles in 2011, 2012, and 2013, as well as leading Gallos to win their first Cup in the Apertura 2016 and play their first-ever Liga MX Final during Clausura 2015.

Besides, 'Vuce' already knows what it is to be the coach of a team comprised of solely Mexican players since he was in charge of El Tri back in 2014.
