Despite Guadalajara’s efforts to create chances and look for a home win and 3 points, the game ended in a draw this Saturday night at Estadio Akron during Matchweek 6 of Liga MX Guard1anes 2020.
The first 45 minutes of the game was a battle for possession with both teams unable to gain an advantage. In the 11th minute, ‘Chapito’ assisted with a nice through ball to JJ who shot inside the box but Ustari managed to keep the ball out of the net. Pachuca came back three minutes later as Victor Davila got past the Chivas defenders to rifle the ball, which Hiram Mier deflected for a corner.
Tuzos found their groove and in the 25th minute Chavez unleashed a left-footed shot from outside the box that went over the crossbar. In the 33rd minute, Erick Aguirre crossed the ball from the left into the box and Romario Ibarra attempted a flashy half scissor kick, which was off-target.
Pachuca’s back four was well organized and Chivas could not break break through despite a gargantuan effort. It was Pachuca with a couple of headers in the 50th and 52nd minutes. In the 55th minute, Guadalajara finally found its own in the attacking half when JJ rifled a strong shot barely off target. A minute later, Alexis Vega, assisted by Macias, slipped inside the box to stroke a shot that Murillo deflected for a corner.
El Rebaño pushed hard to get the tiebreaker and Beltran and Molina tried their luck with long-distance shots. Tuzos had a chance to steal the win when the game was one minute into stoppage time, Leo Ramos was shot from inside the box but his shot was off target. Next up for Guadalajara is a clash with Tigres on Saturday, September 5th, at Estadio Universitario.
