A harsh defeat in San Luis

21/01/2021 22:57 / Fernando Giaccardi

Right from the start, San Luis did not hold back anything with high pressure on Chivas’ defensive line and took little to wreak havoc among Vucetich’s pupils.

In minute 2 Chivas dodged a couple of bullets, as Ibáñez crashed the ball into the crossbar, and then Gudiño deflected Castro’s rocket shot. Four minutes later, González gave the home team the lead following a set piece play that found him open to shot past Gudiño.

In the 27th minute, Ibáñez doubled the lead of San Luis with a precise header that found the back of the net. In minute 38 Alexis Vega fired a shot that went wide. By the end of the first half, Antuna delivered an accurate ball to ‘Cone’, unfortunately, his shot was caught by the keeper.

Nothing changed in the second half with a struggling ‘Chiverío’ and a pragmatic home team who took their foot off the pedal with a counterattack stance. In the 59th minute, Ibáñez’ header almost hit the target; however, Ibáñez put the game to rest as he cashed from the PK spot after the referee awarded a penalty for San Luis in minute 62.

In the 68th minute, 'JJ' pulled one back for El Rebaño as he shot from close-range after having caught a loose ball outside the 6-yard box. In minute 86 Mayorga released a long-distance shot that went straight into the GK’s body.

El Rebaño will host FC Juárez next Saturday 30th at Estadio Akron during matchweek 4 of Guard1anes 2021.
