Chivas took advantage of their dynamic and fast-paced tactics to put high pressure on Pachuca who struggled to find open spaces to link passes in a row.
It all started in minute 2 when Mayorga received a good ball from ‘Cone’; nonetheless, the ball went off-target, then in the 8th minute, Pachuca’s first warning following a violent header from González that was brilliantly saved by Raúl Gudiño.
In the 28th minute, Chivas captain, Jesús Molina, gave El Rebaño the lead thanks to a superb header past Ustari during a corner kick. A few minutes later, in minute 36 Alexis Vega was close to double El Chiverío advantage; nonetheless, his header ended up in Ustari’s hands.
By the end of the first half, ‘JJ’ and ‘Cone’ teamed up nicely inside the 6-yd box, but Murillo was able to block Macías’ right-footed shot just in time.
In all fairness, Pachuca got behind the driving seat in the second half and wreaked havoc among Chivas’ defensive line. In minute 46 Macías received a great through ball from Angulo, then shot from a difficult angle and Ustari was able to save his goal.
A couple of minutes later, Cabral leveled the game during a set-piece play that found him open to shot past Gudiño. Two minutes later, Raúl Gudiño showcased his great playing form as he displayed a superb save on a curling shot from Figueroa. In the 57th minute, Quiroga crashed the ball into the crossbar after receiving a good cross from González.
Uriel Antuna fired a powerful left-footed shot and once again, Ustari saved Pachuca’s goal in minute 81. In the 88th minute, Pachuca was awarded a PK due to a handball inside the box, but Gudiño saved the penalty kick to keep level terms.
Chivas will host Pumas next Sunday 28th at Estadio Akron during matchweek 8 of Guard1anes 2021.
