Both teams showed willingness and heart; nonetheless, they failed to find their footing as it was a first half with a lot of inaccuracy as both tactics neutralize each other.
The first chance for Gallos arrived at minute 3 as Silveria shot from outside the box very wide though. Two minutes later, team captain, Jesús Molina, showcased his good heading skills with a header that went a bit off target. A couple of minutes later, ‘JJ’ received a great through-pass and shot past Ruíz; nonetheless, the goal was overruled as Macías was caught off-side.
In the 29th minute, Uriel Antuna crossed a dangerous ball into the box, but a home-team defender deflected the ball timely.
Querétaro went in front thanks to a violent shot from Silveria into the back of the net in minute 38th. By the end of the first half, ‘JJ’ pulled one a trick out of his sleeve as he tied the game with a flashy shot following a gorgeous assist by Alexis Vega.
During the second half, El Chiverío changed tactics with a halftime substitution with ‘Cone’ Brizuela coming on the field, which caused an open front for both Chivas and Gallos; however, it was Querétaro who got behind the driving seat with hard pressure on the offensive half.
In minute 54, Ramírez fired from very long range and Gudiño caught the ball easily. A minute later, ‘Lalo’ Torres tried his luck with a shot from way outside the box that could not go in.
In the 74th minute, Querétaro took the lead, once again, during a set-piece play and a precise header from Ramírez. It was during stoppage time when Miguel Ponce became the last-minute hero as he conquered a late equalizer with a header following a corner-kick.
There’s no time to lose for El Rebaño as they will clash with Mazatlán next Saturday 6th, at 9:00 pm CT during matchweek 10 of Guard1anes 2021.
