During the first minutes of the first half, there were very few dangerous chances as both teams assessed each other intentions for a while, eventually as time went by the away team got ball control while Chivas tried hard to fight back.
Ten minutes in and Ocejo fired from very close range and Mier cleared the ball off the line timely. In minute 14, Alexis Vega showcased a fantastic run, entered the box, smashed the ball into the post, and Zaldivar’s header was miraculously saved by Acevedo.
By the 28-minute mark, Zaldivar released a right-footed shot that was caught by the away goalie. Two minutes later, Santos went in front via Ocejo as he shot violently past Rodríguez after a solid run.
From the get-go of the second half, El Chiverío did everything they could to get the equalizer and just a minute in ‘Lalo’ Torres unleashed a ball from just inside the box and again Acevedo saved his goal.
In the 63rd minute, the referee awarded a penalty kick for El Rebaño; however, the decision was overruled due to an offside. In minute 68, there was suffocating pressure of Chivas over Santos defensive line which resulted in a curling shot by Angulo into Acevedo.
In minute 71 Macías fired a header that went off-target, then a couple of minutes later Chicote smashed the ball into the crossbar. It was just a matter of time for Chivas to get the equalizer and in minute 74 ‘Canelo’ Angulo fired a gorgeous long-distance volley to level the game. Antuna got a clear chance in stoppage time but his shot was ultimately deflected by a defender.
During matchweek 14 of Guard1anes 2021, Chivas will travel to La #CapitalRojiblanca to clash with Cruz Azul at Estadio Azteca next April 10th.
