With all this great showcase for the upcoming days, we take this opportunity to share with y’all a historical recap of the red & white top scorers in the playoffs, from Guadalajara's first match in the knockout round (1971-72 season) until now.
1. Benjamin Galindo with 11 goals
'El Maestro' opened his account with 2 against Monterrey in the first leg of the Quarterfinals of the 1986-87 season and his last one was against Toluca in the Semifinals of the Summer 2000 season.
2. Omar Bravo with 10
Our historical goal scorer registered them in 3 different stages between 2003 and 2015; 5 of them were headers.
3. Ramon Morales with 9
Three of those goals scored by ‘El Eterno Capitan’ were vital to win the Apertura 2006 championship, as he scored 2 against Cruz Azul in the Quarterfinals and 1 against America in the Semifinals.
4. Luis Antonio 'Cadaver' Valdez with 8
In the second leg of the Quarterfinals of the 1990-91 season, the striker scored 4 against La Maquina Celeste.
5. Adolfo 'Bofo' Bautista with 7
Another of the great red-and-white idols of recent times also scored at vital moments in order to get the AP06 championship.
