Dear all the Chiva Nation,
Today we celebrate another year in the history of our beloved Club Deportivo Guadalajara. 116 years of existence. There have been so many generations that have been part of the great Chivas family that sometimes it’s difficult to express the gratitude that each and every one of the people (fans, players, staff and directors) deserve, who have made it, year after year, undoubtedly and effectively, the most Mexican and popular team in the country.
From its founders, its first years of life, el 'Ya Merito', el 'Campeonísimo', las 'Chivas Flacas', el 'Rebaño Sagrado' of the 80's, las 'Super Chivas' of the 90's and the entire Vergara era since 2003, ALL the red & whites have been important. ALL have collaborated in some way to strengthen the tradition, identity and pride of being from El Guadalajara.
It isn’t only a soccer team. It is a symbol of Union, Fraternity and Sport. It is a representation that Mexicans, together, are much stronger and that there is no feat that can stop us as long as we are united, humble and work as a team.
Yes, 28 trophies between the men and women teams in official national and international competitions during the era of professional soccer in Mexico are part of our history as a club, but the most important thing is that today, 116 years later, we can proudly say that more than 40 million ChivaHerman@s is our greatest legacy.
El Guadalajara belongs to its people and is for its people. That is why, today, more than ever and 24/7, we must respect all the worth of the name with which we were founded on May the 8th of 1906: UNION.
Thus, together, WE ARE ALL CHIVAS.
