Thanks for toeing the line, Chivas!

Although they were unselfish in their efforts and relentlessly searched for the goals that would allow them to advance to the next round, Guadalajara fell short in their performance and drew 1-1 (3-2 aggregate) on Sunday afternoon at the Estadio Jalisco in the second leg of the Quarter-Final. Special mention must go to the ChivaHerman@s who made their presence felt throughout the last few games of the competition, including this afternoon's match at Chivas' second home.

Aware that they had to look for goals, the Rebaño were the first to knock on the door at the 4' mark after 'Nene' Beltrán opened up the flank for 'Chapo' Sánchez, who sent in a first-time cross, but the back line broke before JJ Macías could get in a shot. The Zorros answered 10 minutes later with a shot by Furch, but 'Wacho' Jiménez made a save. At 19', 'Piojo' Alvarado knocked the paint off the crossbar from a free kick in. At 34', the red and white team had to make an adjustment in their goal, as 'Wacho' complained of a muscular discomfort; Raúl Gudiño came on in his place.

At 41', 'Checo' Flores was supported in the center by 'Nene', who immediately projected JJ inside the area and the latter faced the goal with a turn, but his shot went wide.
The metal said no to the Chiverío once again at 43', when JJ pulled the trigger from the edge of the box and the ball crashed against the crossbar, remained alive at the edge of the penalty area and Javier Abella knocked down 'Piojo' just before he pushed it into the net; despite the controversy of the play, it was not reviewed by the VAR. In the last play of the first half, Anibal Chalá, who should have received a second yellow card minutes earlier for a tackle from behind on 'Chapo', opened the scoring after being set up in the left side of the box and sending an impossible-to-tackle line drive.

The red-and-black team tried to surprise at the start of the second half of the match, as Quiñones immediately filtered through the hole in search of Chalá, but Gudiño read the play perfectly and made a smart save. At 48', Alexis set up JJ inside the area, who received the ball with his back to his marker and, after a couple of feints, managed to turn and shoot, just over the crossbar. Three minutes later, 'Nene' tried his luck from the half circle and the ball went inches wide. Both goalkeepers excelled in their next interventions, as at 54' Vargas spat out a right-footed shot by Alexis and at 58' Gudiño flew to send a powerful shot by Quiñones to the corner.

At 66', 'Chiquete' reached the baseline and put in a cross to the far post that Chicote headed in, but the goalkeeper managed to save. At 69', the Red and Blacks were down a man after Jeremy Márquez elbowed 'Checo' Flores in the in the face. Two minutes later, 'Nene' tried to surprise Vargas with a lobbed shot, but the ball went just wide of the left corner. At 77', Pavel beat his marker on two occasions and then shot, just over. Chivas equalized and closed the gap on the aggregate at 89', after 'Chelo' played JJ inside the area and who spun to send the ball into the net with a left-footed shot that hit the base of the left post.
