Ricardo Cadena knows the young players of La Cantera Rojiblanca perfectly, that's a fact. Our coach has worked with many of them in different youth academy stages over the last few years, which is why for Chivas’ current Preseason in Barra de Navidad he called-up 10 players from Tapatio.
From that list, it is worth remarking that Gilberto Orozco Chiquete, Pavel Perez and Raul Rangel will be part of Chivas’ roster on a permanent basis from the Apertura 2022 and on.
The ones of their first call-up
Dylan Guajardo, Gilberto Garcia and Andre Alcaraz are the 3 homegrown players who are living their first Preseason with El Rebaño Sagrado, which is why their rookie tag will make them return to Guadalajara without hair.
Guajardo is an all-rounder midfielder, as his high pace helps the team to be much more agile. Another of his virtues is his great positioning between the lines and the ability he has to charge the opponent's area.
'Gil' plays as a center midfielder and has a good game reading, which allows him to anticipate the opponent's actions and steal balls. In addition, Garcia can turn very quickly and eliminate intense pressures, which makes it easier for him to get the ball under control.
On his hand, 'Lobo' Alcaraz is a homegrown goalkeeper who has very good reflexes, which helps him to be a great resource under the 3 posts. In addition, he comes from a very active year with Alebrijes of Oaxaca.
Not homegrown but in their first Chivas’ Preseason
Despite not having a red & white youth academy process, both Paolo Yrizar and Omar Mireles were 2 of the most important assets of Tapatio in the Clausura 2022 season, which is why Ricardo Cadena considered them for this stage with El Rebaño Sagrado.
Paolo is an attacker who grew as a professional footballer in Queretaro and joined Chivas early this year. He played 10 games in Liga de Expansion and scored 4 goals. In addition, he played 4 games with Guadalajara during the same tournament.
Mireles plays as a center back and comes from Mineros, he also joined El Rebaño's affiliate for the CL22 and played all the matches with Tapatio.
The Martinez and their desire to earn a spot
'Chevy' Martinez and Gabriel Martinez already know what it's like to go through this stage with Chivas, so after playing the entire Clausura 2022 with Tapatio, they got the opportunity to be part of the Preseason in order to be considered for the next tournament.
The red and white striker made his debut in Liga MX in August of 2020 and after a knee injury that kept him in rehab for a while, he is looking to stay in the squad, while 'Gabo', who played the entire CL22 with Tapatio, continues with the objective of being one of the central backs that will protect the red & white team during the Apertura 2022.
