What happened with Chivas on its last day at Barra de Navidad?

10/06/2022 14:01 / Luis Fernando Quezada

For the week's closer in Barra de Navidad, Guadalajara played its first friendly match of the Preseason ahead of the 2022 Apertura and did a clean job, as the red &white team defeated Colima FC 4-0, so coach Ricardo Cadena had a great chance to fine-tune his players in preparation for next week's Tour Rebaño in the U.S. The match was played in 4 periods of 25 minutes each, which was enough for Chivas' coach to try out 2 different line-ups.

Chivas did not forfeit their style and took possession of the ball from the start of the game. The first attempts on goal came from Gael Sandoval, who was very active, but his shots were not successful. It took 23' for Colima to put Raúl Rangel to the test, but he was able to keep a clean sheet.

During the second half, the Rojiblanco squad intensified their attacks from the flanks, as they took advantage of the right wing with Alan Mozo, stalking the opposing area. Just two minutes into the second half, Paolo Yrizar struck one of the crosses from the Rebaño's fullback and came within a whisker of opening the scoring. At 50', Chivas managed to open the scoreboard with a penalty kick scored by Gael Sandoval, who took the opportunity to take advantage of the penalty that was given to him after having been fouled on an individual play along the left flank.

For the third period, Ricardo Cadena fielded a different 11, and it didn't take long for them to make their presence felt. Two minutes after the resumption, Cristian Calderón sent a cross to the far post to José Juan Macías, who headed the ball to the far post, increasing the lead. The third goal of the morning was scored at 20' of the third period by Ángel Zaldívar, who was on his game inside the box and, after a pass from 'Tiba' Sepúlveda, connected with the ball and sent it into the back of the net.

In the fourth half, Ricardo Cadena's men still not satisfied and went in search of increasing the difference. It was at 8' of the fourth half when the Rebaño scored the definitive 4-0 thanks to Carlos Cisneros, who set up a one-two inside the box with 'JJ' and rifled a shot past the keeper to end the match.
