It was time for Guadalajara to shake off the bad streak and set out on the road to victory in AP22. The 4-0 thrashing of Necaxa on Matchday 10 will undoubtedly serve as a springboard for Guadalajara's recovery in the standings, especially with two consecutive home games next week.
What will it take to make it happen? Ricardo Cadena and Isaac Brizuela are clear about the reasons for coming back with a W from Aguascalientes and the red-and-white team will have to start from that starting point to beat Monterrey next Tuesday at the Estadio Akron.
Ricardo Cadena's words post-Necaxa:
- "The boys have been working week in and week out , we have always trained towards the same objective, the focus has been present in every match, but the effectiveness (in front of goal) was not in our favor and we suffered through the matches we wear not able to win."
- "Today the confidence that the boys have shown and demonstrated throughout this tournament is reflected in the commitment they have and allows us to continue competing and winning."
- We have been working on different areas, functions and the team position since last tournament to achieve effectiveness based on order".
- We approached this match with a different strategy to what we had been doing during previously in the tournament.
- The boys once again showed desire, order, concentration and above everything, a tremendous attitude to do what they should do.
- "We had an opponent which plays well in front of us, a great team which pressed hard and made us work during some complicated moments."
- "This match allowed me to shake off the feeling of not being able to get 3 points during this tournament, I hope it is something that the group can also shake off and start thinking about the rest of the tournament".
The words of 'Cone' Brizuela post-Necaxa:
- "I think we have to take it slow, but we do realize that when the team sets its mind to it and is convinced we can deliver these types of matches."
- "Now we there's no going back from here, there are very complicated and demanding matches coming up, we must be as orderly at the defensive end, be concrete up front and manage the tempo of the matches."
- "We, the players, have a greater percentage of blame when the situation goes wrong, because we are the ones who perform, we are the ones who have more participation".
- "I think the coaching staff feels proud after a match like this, when the players give everything and that those coming off the bench are also connected."
- "It's beautiful to enjoy a victory like this, (but) we haven't achieved anything, it's a step in the direction we want to go."
- "It's complicated because every week you expect a negative streak to be cut, now it happened, but it's only one game, we deserved it and so did the fans."
- "The incident, was exaggerated in my opinion, because it was only a fan who shouted at me and he was the one I replied to, I shouldn't have done it, I'm not a player who likes to stir up controversy or behave like that, on my part I offer an apology to him and to the Chivas fans because that's not the right way to react."
- "After that I signed everyones jersey, that particular fan and everyone else, with all honesty he told me that we must give it our best, everything was fine, one must be responsible for one's actions".
- I know the frustration they feel when they see that their team is not doing well and on this side we feel the same frustration".
