It seems that Guadalajara is on the road to recovery. Chivas was patient, intense and knew how to manage the tempo of the match to perfection to beat Monterrey by the minimum difference this Tuesday night at the Akron, a match which should have been played on matchday 16. Thus, the Rebaño Sagrado has two wins in a row and started off on the right foot this week, with one more home game left to play, this Saturday against Pumas. We are counting on your support, you can't miss it!
The 'Oncena Tapatía' went all out in the first few minutes of the match. At 2', Alexis Vega sent 'Piojo' Alvarado down the left flank, who connected with 'Cone' Brizuela inside the area, but when he tried to connect with 'Chelo', the defense was able to deflect it down field. At 8', Zaldívar received the ball, back to goal in three-quarters of the field, he deceived his marker with a some fancy footwork, turned and escaped at full speed, on reaching the edge of the area, he struck a powerful line low that flirted with the base of the right-hand post. Two minutes later, Alexis sent 'Cone' down the right flank, who crossed into the heart of the area looking for 'Piojo', who shot wide.
The visitors responded with a couple of chances at 13' and 14', but Vegas' header went over the top and Gallardo's shot went to straight to a waiting 'Wacho'. Next play, 'Nene' filtered to 'Cone', who reached the back line and then put in a back pass that Alexis impacted with a left-footed shot, but it veered away from the goal. At 43', the Rebaño took were almost able to put numbers on the scoreboard, after 'Nene' connected a rebound on the fly, Andrada reached but spat the shot away with his right leg, the ball fell to Olivas, who sent it into the net, but he was offside, moments later 'Wacho' stretched all his length to save a half scissor-kick by Pizarro.
At the start of the second half, 'Wacho' had to deal with a couple of dangerous interventions, at 51', he pulled out a shot from Maxi Meza with his fingertips and, a minute later, he made a two fists save to deny a crossed shot from Pizarro, but the rebound bounced between the defenders, but Wacho was able to dramatically bring it down before another shot could be taken. At 55', Alexis escaped from midfield, leaving rivals in his wake, and as he entered the area, he looked for a gap to have a shot, but was disarmed before he was able to do so. At 56', the referee disallowed a goal for the visitors, after Gallardo pushed the ball into the net in an advanced position. At 60', El Rebaño surprised with a prefabbed play, when, in the post from a free kick, 'Piojo' played it to 'Nene' in the half-circle, who got off a shot that the goalkeeper deflected to the corner. At 62', 'Wacho' came up big when he won a one-on-one against Berterame.
Ten minutes later, Pizarro put in a dangerous looking pass slash shot that crossed the small area looking for a rebound without anyone touching it. El Rebaño achieved its goal and moved the scoreboard at 79', when the 'Charal' filtered a pass to leave Santiago Ormeño alone in front of the goalkeeper and was able to beat him with a strong right cross. Wacho' was a fundamental factor in the victory in the final minutes of the match, saving a pair of close range headers from Rodrigo Aguirre, the first at 82' and the second at 84'.
