Agonizing draw for Chivas against Querétaro

05/02/2023 19:36 / Javier Quezada

In a match in which they had control of the ball, but in which, unfortunately, they were unable to find clarity up front, Guadalajara rescued a draw on the hour against Querétaro this Sunday afternoon at the Estadio Akron, in matchday 5 of the Clausura 2023, a result that left El Rebaño Sagrado in 7th place in the general table with 8 points.

Chivas had been in the lead for practically the entire match, but in a very unfortunate action they went behind on the scoreboard and then, with a lot of pride, drive and through a fixed tactic play, they managed to tie the score in stoppage time. The red and white team's next game will be against the Tuzos in Pachuca, on Saturday, February 11 at 9:05 PM.

Goals
- 77' Pablo Barrera opened the account when he was surprised by a free kick that slipped through the hands of 'Wacho' Jiménez and the ball barely crossed the goal line.

- 90'+2' Chivas equalized from a corner kick taken by Víctor Guzmán, which Alejandro Mayorga sent into the back of the net with a header that overcame the speed of Gil Alcalá.

Dangerous moments
- At 9', 'Charal' Cisneros left a rival, reached the back line and put in a delayed pass that 'Pocho' controlled and then shot, but just wide of the goal.
- At 23', 'Tiba' Sepúlveda headed a corner kick by Víctor Guzman, but without goal direction.
- At 26', 'Nene' Beltrán was supported by 'Piojo' Alvarado, who then filtered the ball between the lines to leave 'Charal' with an advantage in front of goal, but he crossed his shot too far.
- At 29' Christian Rivera's low shot from the semicircle went wide of the left post.
- At 66', Rivera tried a shot from half distance, but it went wide.
- At 67' Pável Pérez made a double cutback to his marker and then pulled the trigger from outside the area, but over the goal.
- At 81', Ronaldo Cisneros came within a whisker of the equalizer, but Gil Alcalá flew to save his header.
- At 90'+6', 'Tiba' Sepúlveda's shot from inside the box was heading for the net, but the Querétaro defense managed to deflect the object into the corner.
- At 90'+10', Pável Pérez took a powerful shot from the edge of the area, but was unable to direct the ball towards the goal.
