What has Chivas worked on during the preseason?

18/06/2023 16:22 / Enrique Noriega

Guadalajara's intense work does not stop, as Veljko Paunovic is convinced that the Rebaño Sagrado can reach its best footballing version ahead of the start of the Apertura 2023.

Four days have passed since Chivas' arrival in Querétaro and we will tell you what the red-and-white coach has been working on with the entire team.

1. Physical training

In order to sustain the model of play proposed by Pauno, the team must have good endurance, as the pace with the ball is high and without the ball is intense to be able to press high or generate fast retreating runs.

There have been multiple tasks with and without the ball, which are focused on the development of physical endurance. We must also highlight the great work of the physical trainers, who help the team to dose their loads, exploit their maximum aerobic capacity and reduce as much as possible any injury.

2. Fluency in the last third of the pitch

Chivas had a good goal-scoring quota last semester, scoring 34 goals. However, the team has yet to exploit its full potential in generating chances, which is why Veljko Paunovic has paid close attention to the mechanisms the team adopts when settling in the opponent's half.

From setting up the passing circuits, to the unmarking of the players out wide. Guadalajara is focused on being a team that is capable of generating more dangerous arrivals, in order to surpass the goal-scoring quota it achieved in the Clausura 2023.

3. The defense of the area

El Rebaño has good defensive resources when it comes to protecting its area, but there is always room for improvement. For this reason, during the beginning of the preseason we have been working on defensive phases, both in aerial balls and ground attacks.
