05/07/2023 16:09 / Enrique Noriega

The first time Chivas went head to head with the newly founded Atlético San Luis franchise brings back fond memories. That night, Guadalajara gave one of those performances that thrilled their fans, welcoming the newly promoted team with a categorical 3-0 win, on Day 4 of the 2019 Apertura.

What was that match like?
It was played on a Saturday night, August 10, on the Estadio Akron pitch. The game was dominated from start to finish by el Rebaño Sagrado, which managed to impose conditions and generated 13 shots on goal during the 90 minutes of action.

The opener came at 15' through Javier Eduardo López, who surprised the Potosí goalkeeper from just outside the 18 yard box with a left-footed cross that went in at the base of the post.

El Chiverío extended their lead a few minutes later, but the goal generated from a set piece was disallowed for offside by Oribe Peralta. However, it was only a matter of time before the second goal arrived, due to Guadalajara’s overwhelming dominance, and at 65', Alan Pulido took charge of an exceptional penalty kick to score.

In the final stretch of the game, Guadalajara scored another goal with another penalty, Alexis Vega had been brought down inside the area and Oswaldo Alanís made the spot-kick count with a shot that was impossible to save to put the final numbers on the scoreboard.
