The keys to Chivas' win over Necaxa

14/07/2023 13:32 / Enrique Noriega

Guadalajara's performance at the start of the Apertura 2023 has been relentless, through great footballing displays they have managed to score goals and have become accustomed to winning, something of utmost importance if you want titles.

The team coached by Veljko Paunovic has scored 7 goals and allowed only 2 in their first 3 matches of the semester, which ensures that they retain the super leadership of Liga MX before the break for the Leagues Cup. This takes on a much stronger significance when we analyze in detail the current squad, which continues to demonstrate its high quality and great performance despite its youth.

General analysis of the match against Necaxa
Chivas took the field with their traditional 4-3-3 formation, with the novelty that Eduardo Torres would be the center midfielder. On the other hand, Necaxa started the match with a 5-2-3 formation, which became a 5-4-1 when defending.

The opening minutes were difficult for the Rebaño, who were unable to put together passing sequences, largely because they were unable to take advantage of the give and go. In addition, the Rayos exerted a very close mark, which compromised the receptions of Fernando Beltrán and Víctor Guzmán, closely marked by Poggi and Esquivel.

Defensively, El Chiverío did well, most of the visitors' attacks were via centers into the box, but both Gilberto Sepúlveda and Chiquete Orozco were able to impose their conditions.

As the minutes went by, 'Lalo' Torres began to play more forward and, above all, pass through lines, which he took advantage of to give the receivers an advantage in the opponent's field and, from that point on, Chivas took control of the game.

One of the things that stood out the most about Guadalajara was that in matchdays 2 and 3 they were able to control the game with some adjustments. Brigido, González and Muñoz came on in an effort to take control of the match and to gain possession. In addition, Pavel and Ronaldo came on to be constant threats in open space.

The goals

1-0: A perfect example of the partnership that has been created on the right flank with Mozo, Brizuela and Beltrán. They formed a triangle of passes that managed to keep several Necaxa players out of the play and then 'Nene' took advantage of the space to score a long distance goal.

2-0: It was a masterclass in how to attack the opponents weak side as well as the way in which the area should be charged. First, Beltrán with his change of direction left Pavel 1-on-1, who with his dribble won the individual duel and then set up Brigido, who attacked Montes blind side and simply push the ball into the net.

The MVP
For the third consecutive matchday we will recognize Fernando Beltrán, who is looking better and better on the field. He has polished many details in the organization, he shows a tremendous evolution when charging the area and also in his striking. Without a doubt, he has assumed a leadership role on the field, one of the many reasons why he has captivated all the ChivaHermanos.

- 65 interventions
- 1 key pass
