Chivas' participation in the Leagues Cup comes to an end

31/07/2023 23:22 / Javier Quezada

Chivas arrived with the illusion and confidence of having their destiny in their hands, but never managed to develop the game which the ChivaHermanos are accustomed to and ended up losing to Sporting Kansas City by the minimum difference on Monday night at Children's Mercy Park, a result that consummated the early and surprising elimination of El Rebaño Sagrado in this competition.

The Goal
- Sporting Kansas City moved the scoreboard in the 27th minute, when Johnny Russell took a cross that crossed the entire area and sent the ball into the back of the net with a powerful left-footed shot that was impossible to save.

Dangerous chances
- At 5', Víctor Guzmán was confident and tried his luck from long distance, but his shot was too wide.
- At the 25th minute, 'Tala' Rangel was agigant and scored under the three posts, after scratching a point-blank shot from Gadi Kinda, who was supported by Russell to be left alone in front of the goal.
- At 53', 'Chicote' escaped with controlled ball from his own half and took advantage of the spaces to get to the front, from where he shot, but wide of the goal.
- At 73', 'Nene' stole the ball at the start of the game and was supported by Yael Padilla, who saw a space between the central defenders and shot, but without direction to the goal.
- At 87', 'Tala' flew to deflect a long-distance shot by Daniel Sallói that flirted with the left post.
- At 90', 'Pollo' came within inches of equalizing the score, but his header in the heart of the area went inches wide.
