Chivas vs. Rayadas is one of the most highly anticipated matches, not only because both teams are permanent protagonists and have been champions of the Liga MX Femenil several times, but also because they usually provide us with a good soccer show every time they face each other, and this Thursday's match at the Akron will be no exception.
The first time they met was in AP17, a tournament in which all the teams faced each other twice in the group format and the score was even, with La Pandilla winning 2-1 in Monterrey and El Rebaño winning 1-0 in Guadalajara, a result that ended up catapulting the red-and-whites to the Final and subsequently lifting the Championship.
Since then, they have faced each other a total of 17 times and, although the record slightly favors the Monterrey-based team, the Guadalajara-based team has had some memorable moments in this rivalry. It is enough to remember AP18 when the red-and-whites eliminated the albiazules in the quarterfinals, or that 5-0 win in the Clausura 2021 at the Akron when Chivas Femenil wore the special edition jersey with the home team's crest. We cannot leave aside the most important of all: the Champion of Champions of the AP21-CL22 cycle that Chivas Femenil won over Rayadas.
Of the current squads, there are 4 players who have worn both jerseys. Wendy Toledo, the brand new Chivas reinforcement, had her first minutes in the league with the Norteñas, in CL18. Nicole Perez made her debut with the Rebaño in the same tournament and joined the Rayadas' ranks in CL21. Karol Bernal, who played with the Rebaño between CL21 and AP22, is now living her second stage with the team from Monterrey.
The fourth and last player on this list is none other than Alicia Cervantes, who scored 12 goals for La Pandilla between the Apertura 2018 and Clausura 2020, while with her beloved team, Chivas, she has 91 goals from AP20 to date.
The red-and-white goal...
