Las Chivas Subs had a morning of a learnable moments this Saturday at Verde Valle, as El Rebaño U-23s were surprised by Pachuca, losing 2-4, while El Chiverío U-18s played a great match, but were unable to capitalize on the chances they generated and ended up drawing 1-1 against the Tuzos; both matches were part of Matchday 9 of the Apertura 2023.
With these results, the U-23 team remained in third place overall with 17 points, while the U-18 team remained at the bottom of the table with 8 points, but still have their Game Day 4 match against Bravos pending. The next game for both Chivas representatives will be this Tuesday 26th at Verde Valle against Mazatlán FC, in a match in advance of match day 11.
How did the U-23 team score the goals?
- The visitors opened the scoring at 3' when Sergio Aguayo headed in a cross from the left flank.
- Pachuca extended their lead at 16' from a corner kick, after Ángel Estrada appeared at the far post to send the ball into the net.
- El Rebaño reduced the deficit at 37', when Marioni Ham received a delayed pass inside the box and crossed the ball to beat the goalkeeper.
- Los Tuzos capitalized on another corner kick at 48', when José Saldívar popped up high to send the ball home.
- Aguayo completed his brace at 75' when he took advantage of a cross to the far post, where he appeared to close the scoring with a crossed header.
- Chivas made the defeat more dignified at 75', when Armando González appeared in the heart of the area to push into the goal a ball that was left alive.

What were the goals for the U18s?
- Ariel Castro opened the scoreboard with a truly magnificent goal, as he took the ball in front of the goal with his back to the net, withstood the tight marking of the defense and turned to shoot a right-footed cross into the left corner of the net.
- The visitors salvaged the equalizer with 5 minutes to go, after Aldo Encinas converted a penalty kick.
- In the penalty shootout, the red and white goalkeeper Juan Liceaga excelled by saving 2 of the Tuzos' 5 shots and had a direct influence on El Rebaño's extra point.
