Chivas managed to shake off the bad form of recent weeks and did so with authority, as not only did they beat their fierce city rivals in the 12th match of the Apertura 2023, but at a strategic level, Veljko Paunovic's team also ran roughshod over them. This performance gave El Rebaño Sagrado several things to boast about and we present them below:
- Guadalajara achieved its most comfortable win against the Zorros at the Akron Stadium.
- Chivas once again scored four goals against their city neighbors, having already done so in May 2015 when they won by an identical score of 4-1.
- El Rebaño also won in the Subs against their fierce rivals from Jalisco, as the 23rd team won 3-1 and the 18th team won 1-0.
- Against the Zorros, Ricardo Marín scored his first double in Liga MX. In this match, the striker fired 3 shots at goal.
- In the Clasico Tapatio, the Rebaño registered its highest conversion rate in terms of shots on goal (66.7%), as it sent 4 of its 6 shots into the net. Only against Xolos did the Rebaño have more shots on goal, when it fired 9 times in the direction of the goal.
- For the first time so far in the tournament, the Tapatía team finished a match without receiving any cards.
- Isaac Brizuela led Chiverío in shots on goal with 4, in addition to providing an assist and completing 14 of 16 passes (88% effectiveness).
- Fernando Beltrán made the most recoveries for Chivas with 11; he shot at goal 1 time and converted a great goal.
- Gilberto Sepúlveda finished the 12th matchday as the player with the third highest number of ball recoveries with 47.
- Alan Mozo is the player with the most crosses so far in the Apertura 2023 with 55; he is also the fourth player with the most defensive handballs won with 27.
