It has been more than 13 years since Chivas migrated to the Akron Stadium, however, there was a brief period during 2011 when they had to return to the Jalisco Stadium for a few weeks, as the Red and White Fortress was used as the main venue for the Guadalajara Pan American Games.

During September and October of that year, the most popular and beloved team in México hosted Puebla, Querétaro, Estudiantes Tecos and none other than Tigres, curiously, their opponent this Saturday on matchday 14 of the Apertura 2023.

How did Chivas fare in that match against UANL at the Jalisco?
It was October 26, 2011, when El Rebaño and the Felinos met at the Jalisco Stadium, as part of Matchday 15 of AP11. El Rebaño was the overall super leader with 25 points, while UANL was in fourth place with 22.

Aware of the importance of securing the top spot in the standings in the last few matches, the team coached by Fernando Quirarte took to the field determined to win the match and did so, winning by the narrowest of margins with a goal by Alberto 'Venado' Medina at 51'.
