Chivas' victory over Queretaro in an X-Ray review

01/11/2023 12:41 / Enrique Noriega

Chivas got back to its winning ways at a key moment in the championship, as after beating the Gallos away from home, on Matchday 15 of AP23, they got right back into the fight for direct qualification to the Playoffs and now depend on themselves with only 2 matches left on the calendar.

Although the match was contrasting, the Rebaño showed strength and managed to generate several scoring options, of which they capitalized on 2, thus earning 3 very valuable points.

General analysis
The first half was a Red and White dance, as the game plan made a lot of sense and managed to keep the Gallos at bay. Alvarado, Beltrán and Sánchez started on the right flank, so they never hesitated to invade zones and get close to each other to generate short combinations. In addition, the 'Oso' was quite good at getting into many areas of the field, being an ideal complement to Guadalajara's attacks.

On the other side, Erick Gutiérrez, who had a particular task: to charge the area. He scored 1 goal and came within scoring 2 more.

Another important point were the areas where Beltrán and Gutiérrez received the ball, as it was impossible for Escamilla and García to detect them. The key to the victory was that Chivas focused their efforts on short associations.

The second half was very complicated because the first goal was scored in a circumstantial play, which inevitably changed the course of the match because it allowed Querétaro to put more people forward and conditioned the Red and White team's position.

Highlights
The Rebaño Sagrado once again showed good defense in the 6 yard box, which was something that has long been overdue. At the end of the match and conditioned by Ricardo Marín's expulsion, the defense showed strength to contain all Querétaro's attacks.

It is clear that this was not the ideal scenario, but the Red card and the accumulated fatigue of some of our players ended up diminishing the collective performance. We must remember that Chivas played on Saturday and had little recovery time, which is why both Alvarado and Beltrán were sacrificed in the modifications to close the game.

Conclusions
There are many things to improve for the Liguilla, but there is good news for Guadalajara, who found new ways of attacking, which were very clear in the first half.
