How did Chivas Subs fare in the Apertura 2023?

12/12/2023 12:55 / Club Deportivo Guadalajara

The end of the year is approaching and it's time to take stock of what the #CanteraRojiblanca did during the Apertura 2023, a tournament in which Guadalajara's youth teams showed a good overall performance and asserted their status as the best youth academy in our country in most categories.

The following is a general review of what each of the Red-and-White representatives, both men's and women's, did.

MALE
- Under 23: The team coached by José Meléndez was crowned Champion of the category after defeating Tigres 0-2 on aggregate. Chivas had an extraordinary performance in the tournament, finishing second overall and making it count in the Playoffs.

- Under 18: The Red and White team had a complicated start to the tournament, however, they closed the calendar like a fireball, although the effort was not enough to reach the so-called Fiesta Grande, as the goal difference prevented them from reaching the top eight in the classification and placed them in tenth place overall.

- Under 16: Chivas finished the competition in fifth place in their group.

- Under 14: The Rebaño Sagrado came up just short of a feat that would have given them the title, as after losing the first leg of the Final 4-1 to Xolos, in the second leg they came within one goal of going to extra time and lost 4-5 on aggregate.

- Under 13: The Red and White team came close to reaching the Grand Final, but were unable to crown their extraordinary tournament by finishing in the Semifinals.

FEMENILES
- Under 19: Guadalajara finished in sixth place in the group, which is why they were unable to advance to the Final Phase of the tournament. However, this semester the team experienced its first European adventure by participating in two of the most important youth tournaments in the world. The 'Cracksitas' left good sensations in the Gothia Cup in which they reached the Quarterfinals and were proclaimed Champions of the Dana Cup, a tournament they concluded with perfect results.

- Under 16: The Red and White girls were unable to crown their extraordinary tournament with the title, as they lost by the minimum difference in the Grand Final.
