March 4, 2023 was the last time Santos Laguna visited the Akron Stadium. That night was Matchday 10 of the Clausura 2023 and the match raised a lot of expectations among Guadalajara fans, as the Rebaño had won three consecutive matches and would win their fourth against the Guerreros, beating them 2-0.
What was the match like?
The match was probably one of Guadalajara's best displays in the last few tournaments, as they performed well throughout the 90 minutes. They generated 17 scoring chances, put 2 shots against the post and controlled the match by hitting 80% of the passes they attempted.
The first goal of the match came at 17' and it was a gem, as it came from a play prepared in fixed tactics from the right flank. In this action, Alvarado sent a cross to the far post, where Víctor Guzmán appeared and headed the ball past the goalkeeper.
Chivas' second goal was scored seconds before the end of the first half by Fernando Beltrán, who was at the edge of the box and took a rebound from the defense, and then shot a right-footed volley that found a deflection that allowed the ball to enter the visitors' net.
We are convinced that this could be a very positive start, as the Rebaño has had a great preseason in terms of both physical and footballing aspects.
