The first win of the Clausura 2024 came for Guadalajara, ChivaHermanos! With an offensive style of play and the support of the Red-and-White Nation, which made the Akron Stadium a huge venue, Chivas took control of the match and ended up defeating Toluca 3-2 on Tuesday night, in matchday 4 of the Clausura 2024.
The team from Guadalajara knew how to keep their cool after seeing their lead on the scoreboard reached on two occasions and tonight they found the prize they had been looking for since the first matchday, with goals from Fernando Beltrán, Pável Pérez and Ricardo Marín.
Chivas will now begin preparations to visit Atlético de San Luis on Sunday, February 4 at the Alfonso Lastras Stadium, before traveling to Canada to open their participation in the CONCACAF Champions League.
The goals
-It took just 19 seconds of play for Fernando Beltrán to send the Rebaño home. After a quick recovery by Chiverío, 'Nene' sent a precise shot from outside the area that rattled the Scarlet nets.
-The Devils evened the score at 7', after an unfortunate rebound from the Red-and-White backline, which Marcel Ruiz ended up pushing in front of an empty net.
-Pável Pérez put on a bullfighter's hat at 42' for Guadalajara's second goal. He received the ball in the last third of the field, drove and with two feints got out of the double Scarlet mark at the entrance of the area, defining towards the first post in front of the goalkeeper.
-With 2 minutes left in the first half, Brian García put Toluca back in the match, closing the gap on a shot from the left.
-At 81', Ricardo Marín put the Rebaño Sagrado back in the lead with an unassailable cross shot, after an assist from 'Hormiga' González.
Dangerous tries
-At 19', 'Tiba' Sepúlveda got up in the opponent's area to head against Volpi, who was able to stretch his hand out to prevent Chivas' second goal.
-At 27', 'Nene' had the chance to score his double with a precise cross from 'Pocho' Guzmán that left him alone at the penalty spot. Beltrán's shot did not have the necessary direction to find the net.
-At 29' Guzmán was the finisher of José Castillo's service from the right, before the mark of an opponent, 'Pocho' put his right foot in at the last minute, but his attempt went over the top.
-At 31', Cowell served 'Pocho' inside the six-yard box for him to head, but he could do little to stop Volpi's charge.
-In the added time of the first half, 'Pollo' Briseño made his presence felt with a header that rattled the Mexican crossbar and went out.
At 56', Cade Cowell broke down the left, cut back to the center and pulled the trigger from mid-distance; his shot was deflected by the defense, but it passed very close to the Choricero's right post.
At 68', 'Pocho' Guzmán came very close to the third when 'Piojo' found him alone outside the area and shot first-time, before the Brazilian goalkeeper made a two-handed save.
-At 73' Yael Padilla connected a cross from the left corner, without sufficient positioning to worry the opponent.
-At 85', Marín could have sealed the game with a header at the entrance of the six-yard box that he couldn't connect in a good way for what would have been his second goal of the night.
-At 89', 'Hormiga' escaped alone towards the Mexiquense goal and shot right-footed to the far post, just wide of the goal.
