02/03/2024 21:15 / Omar González

CDMX.- Chivas was unable to score points in their visit to Cruz Azul, as they committed several errors in the first half that cost them the goals that led to a 3-0 defeat, in a match corresponding to Day 10 of the 2014 Liga MX Clausura Tournament.

In the second half, Guadalajara offered a better footballing version in an attempt to get back on the scoreboard to repay the incredible support of the thousands of ChivaHermanos who filled the Azteca Stadium and even "Piojo" Alvarado and "Chicharito" Hernández scored a couple of goals that shortened the difference in the scoreboard, but both were disallowed as offside.

The goals:
- At 6' Ángel Sepúlveda took advantage of a rebound in the area to touch the ball backward for Lorenzo Faravelli to push the ball into the net.

- At 26' on the left flank, Rodolfo Rotondi put a pass into the box, and with a move to the penalty spot, Uriel Antuna connected the ball with his left foot to send it into the back of the net.

- At 32', on a long ball, Ángel Sepúlveda reached the end line and then sent a diagonal shot that Antuna just pushed into the net.

The danger:
5' Roberto Alvarado took a left-footed cross that required goalkeeper Mier to lie down to his left to prevent the Red-and-White goal.

22' "Nene" Beltrán, with great intelligence, found the space to get a ball to Ricardo Marín, who shot at the near post, but Mier saved the ball.

29' Cowell put a cross to the near post and although the Celeste goalkeeper failed in his first attempt to stop the ball, as it slipped between his legs, he reacted in time to control it.

45'+4 Roberto Alvarado entered the area at speed and reached the back line to send a strong pass in search of Ricardo Marín, but Piovi rejected the ball.

55' "Pollo" Briseño stood firm to keep out Ángel Sepúlveda's shot to prevent another La Máquina goal.

61' Cowell pulled the trigger after a pass from Alan Mozo, the shot was close to goal, but the play was disallowed for offside.

62' After a cross from the right by Mozo, which passed through the box without Cowell and Macías connecting, Alvarado appeared to put his head to the ball and score, but after a VAR review, the goal was disallowed.

66' JJ Macías took a left-footed shot in an attempt to place the ball in the top corner, but it went just wide of the goal.

68' Cowell left two defenders behind to head into the box and take a shot that the Celeste goalkeeper read well to keep the ball.

87' Javier Hernández received the ball in the center of the field and with his agility to find the goal he shot, but the goalkeeper blocked it.

89' "Chicharito" comes close again! In an almost identical play to the previous one, the forward from Guadalajara eluded the goalkeeper and sent the ball into the net, but once again the referees flagged for offside.
