The history between Chivas and Puebla

03/04/2024 15:08 / Enrique Noriega

The moment is unbeatable for Guadalajara, who after taking away the Rayados' unbeaten streak, have the opportunity to string together victories to get into the direct qualification positions for the Clausura 2024. However, the task will not be easy, as they will face Puebla, who are at the bottom of the table and will be looking to make their current semester more decent.

What happened the last time they met?
The most recent clash between the two took place on Matchday 13 of the Apertura 2023 and on that day Chivas won 0-2. The goals were scored by Roberto Alvarado from the penalty spot and Ronaldo Cisneros with a spectacular scissor kick.

The historical record favors Chivas
The Rebaño Sagrado and La Franja have played 53 matches in the history of the short tournaments and the record is very favorable for the Guadalajara team, which has won 20, drawn 21, and lost 12.

Curiosities between the two sides
- The biggest win in the history of the rivalry belongs to Guadalajara, who beat La Franja 4-0 in the Verano 2002 and Clausura 2008.

- The last time the red-and-white team and the Camoteros faced each other on Matchday 14, the Rebaño won (game day 14 of AP22).

- Santiago Ormeño is the only player in the current squad to have worn both jerseys.

- Gilberto Chiquete made his debut in the First Division in a match against Puebla, on Day 2 of the Apertura 2021, when the Rebaño won 2-0 away.

- Another player who also made his debut in the maximum circuit against La Franja is Carlos Cisneros, who made his debut at the Cuauhtémoc on February 17, 2013; on that day, the result ended in a 1-1 draw.

- Eduardo Torres also made his debut against Los Camoteros on August 8, 2020.

- This will be the first time Fernando Gago has faced Puebla.
