Chivas beats Gallos and clings on to qualify directly for the Liguilla!

20/04/2024 21:05 / Roberto García

Chivas is determined to achieve its goal of qualifying directly to the Liguilla of the Clausura 2024, as tonight it was obliged to beat Querétaro and did so 2-0 in front of a packed Akron Stadium, in matchday 16 activity. With this result, Chivas reached 28 points and is currently in seventh place overall on goal difference.

The Red-and-Whites came up against a Gallo's team that sought to make the game dirty from the opening whistle; despite this, Chivas outplayed the Black-and-Blues play by play until they opened the scoring in the second half. In addition, Fernando Gago's side recorded their fifth clean sheet in the championship so far.

The Rebaño Sagrado will be playing for everything in the Clásico Tapatío on the last day of the regular season, and we'll see you this Saturday, April 27 at the Jalisco Stadium to show that we are the Soul of Guadalajara and we're going together for a place in the Liguilla!

The goals

-The pitcher goes so far overboard that it breaks, ChivaBrothers! It was already unbearable for the visitors, who at 53' could not prevent 'Tiba' Sepúlveda's header from a corner kick to make the Akron and the Chiva Nation explode.

-GET IT OUT, BUT FROM THE BACK! The goal scored by 'Piojo' Alvarado has no name. On the right-hand balcony of the box, Guadalajara's 25-footer put the entire inside of his left foot into the ball, a dreamy lob that was pinpoint accurate into the left-hand corner of the visitors' goal. GO-LA-ZO!

Dangerous chances

-At 33', Ricardo Marín had the first chance inside the box, received the ball, let it in with his left foot, and fired a low shot that was barely saved by the Querétaro goalkeeper.
-UUUY GUTIII! Erick Gutiérrez appeared at 40' from distance with a left-footed shot that went inches past the rival post.
-INCREDIBLE! 'Nene' Beltrán burst the crossbar with a shot from outside the area at 47'; the rebound was left to 'Piojo' Alvarado, who tried a right-footed shot that hit the right post of the goal. Querétaro was saved!
-Just at the start of the second half, 'Guti' appeared again from half distance, with the collaboration of the defender who deflected his shot and came very close to opening the scoreboard.
-HOW DID IT NOT GO IN? Pável Pérez broke down the left and served in the six-yard box for Gutiérrez, who shot first-time, but somehow the Querétaro goalkeeper managed to get the ball out of the way last time.
-UUUUUFFFF, a header from Gallos inside the box hit the red and white post and went out, to the surprise of everyone at the Akron.
