It doesn't matter what category we're talking about: Guadalajara is Guadalajara, ChivaHermanos! This morning at the Fortaleza Rojiblanca, Chivas U16 defeated their city rival in the first leg of the Clausura 2024 Final by 3-1 and took the advantage to close out the series.
The Red-and-White team assumed their role as hosts and took the lead in the match from the start, looking for partnerships that would allow them to do damage to the Red-and-Black goal. Although Chivas generated actions that unfortunately could not get on the scoreboard, in added time the rival found an option to go ahead on the scoreboard.
With the conviction of getting back into the game's dynamic, Benny Ferreira's pupils came out, and little by little they tilted the field in their favor until they found the equalizer on the hour mark. As the clock ticked down, the Red and White domination became more and more evident against a Zorros team that retreated to a low block to protect the result.
Such was the Red-and-White's insistence that they found two goals towards the end of the match that put justice in the scoreboard, and with that, Chivas will have the upper hand to win the category title this Sunday, May 5, when they meet again at the Jalisco Stadium at 9 AM.
The goals
-0-1: At 45+1', the visitors moved the scoreboard in a play on the left side that ended in a low cross, with a shot by Luis Gamboa.
-1-1: The Rebaño evened things up at 61' with a quick recovery in midfield that turned into a lethal breakaway, where Gael García scored the equalizer with a powerful left-footed shot.
-2-1: Once again, a recovery in the midfield resulted in a goal for Guadalajara at 61', when Gael García intercepted a ball in the final third of the pitch and shot past the goalkeeper at the entrance to the box to give the Red and Whites the lead.
-3-1: Late in the match, a set piece sealed the result in favor of Rebaño Sagrado with an unmarked cross to the far post by Erick Aguilar at 94'.
