The night Chivas beat San Jose away from home

The start of the Leagues Cup is approaching for Guadalajara, which will have to overcome the West 2 group that it shares with San Jose Earthquakes and LA Galaxy. However, the first match of the competition will be against the Quakes next Saturday, July 27 at Levi's Stadium, so today we are going to remember what happened in the last match played by these teams.

We have to go back to October 2003, when the Rebaño Sagrado visited the first home in the history of the Earthquakes: Spartan Stadium. That night, the stadium welcomed more than 12,000 people, who witnessed a convincing 2-0 win for Guadalajara.

The Rojiblancos, led by Hans Westerhof, were the protagonists of the match from the start, and it didn't take long for their superiority to be reflected in the scoreboard. Curiously, both goals were scored by Armando Tavira, the first at 10' and the second at 29' of the first half.

Players such as Joel Sánchez, Paulo César Chávez, Francisco Palencia, Miguel Sabah and Ramón Morales, had minutes that night in front of San José's Rojiblanca fans.

As a curious fact, the San Jose Earthquakes were crowned MLS Champions for the second time in their history just 1 month after this match.
