August 31, 2019 marked the life of Gilberto Sepúlveda, as this day marked his debut in the First Division with the shirt of Guadalajara. This Saturday he will have the opportunity to commemorate this important moment again on the field, when Chivas receives Bravos for Day 6 of the Apertura 2024.
The native of Guasave, Sinaloa, arrived at the Cantera Roijblanca when he was just 14 years old after being recruited in a Copa Chivas. Since then, he has shown his exemplary character and total commitment to the club, until he reached the maximum circuit with Guadalajara.
The decisive moment
Prior to the start of the match between Chivas and Cruz Azul at the Estadio Azteca of the AP19, the central defender heard the words he had dreamed of all his life: you are going to play. After Oswaldo Alanís was injured in the warm-up, 'Tiba' received the confidence of Tomas Boy to start that match, in which he left a good impression in the backline.
The Sinaloa native shared the center back position with Antonio Briseño and the match ended in a 1-1 draw. Since then, he has found regularity and has even been called up to the Mexican National Team.
The Red and White note...
- One of 'Tiba's' most special moments with the Rebaño jersey happened a few months ago, during the second leg of the AP23 Quarterfinals. Chivas needed to score a goal to win the Clásico Tapatío and advance to the next phase, and at 60' Sepúlveda appeared from a corner kick and with a header that he sent into the net to put Guadalajara in the Semifinals.
May there be many more, 'Tiba'!!!!
