11/09/2024 13:57 / Enrique Noriega

The Clásico de México is getting closer and closer, as this Saturday Chivas and América will face each other in the country's capital, for Matchday 7 of the Apertura 2024. The duel looks pretty good, as we already know the atmosphere of the Rojiblanca Nation in Mexico City, in addition to the fact that Guadalajara is in a good soccer rhythm.

Today, we will focus on some curiosities surrounding this edition of the most important rivalry in Liga MX, as it will not be the first time that the two teams will meet on Matchday 7.

Since the creation of the short tournament format, Guadalajara and the Águilas have faced each other 6 times on Day 7 and the record is extremely favorable for the Rojiblancos, as Chivas won 4, drawn 1 and lost only 1.

In fact, one of the most memorable duels in the Rojiblanca capital was precisely on Matchday 7 of the 2016 Apertura, when América was looking to celebrate its centenary against the Rebaño Sagrado, however, Guadalajara overcame them with a resounding 3-0 win, thanks to Isaac Brizuela's brace and a goal by 'Gullit' Peña.

The most recent occasion on which they met on matchday 7 was in the Clausura 2017. On that night, Chivas won 1-0 with a goal by Ángel Zaldívar and, subsequently, the team from Guadalajara was crowned champion of Mexican soccer.

We'll see if Chivas is able to keep the good streak going against the Azulcremas when they clash on Matchday 7, as this Saturday's Clasico de Mexico will be a high-voltage match.
