18/09/2024 22:00 / Roberto García

It was a great night for Guadalajara, who convincingly defeated León 2-0 on Wednesday at the Akron Stadium, in matchday 8 of the Apertura 2024, a result that allowed them to get right back into the fight for one of the top spots in the overall standings.

Chivas generated several opportunities up front and was patient to strike at the right moments of the match, and when they took the lead, they were able to give the correct timing to find the second goal, with which they put a padlock on the victory.

The next test for Fernando Gago's team will be this Saturday in the Red-and-White Capital, when they visit Cruz Azul at the Ciudad de los Deportes Stadium.

The goals

- It had to be 'Piojo'! El 'Pollo' was brought down inside the area and Alvarado made the penalty valid at 45+4', with a left-footed shot that completely fooled Alfonso Blanco to move the scoreboard for the first time.

- So much insistence was rewarded at 73', as a service from Alvarado found the head of Guzmán, who crossed for the arrival of 'Hormiga' González to score his fourth goal of the semester.

Outstanding plays

-The first of the match was for Guadalajara at 6', when 'Piojo' crossed from the right to the arrival of 'Hormiga', who barely grazed the ball but 'Charal' couldn't push in the rebound.
-At 29', Cisneros jumped up at the far post between two rivals and headed his shot, which fooled everyone by moving the net, but just outside the goal.
-'Charal' had another chance at 32'. He received the ball outside the area, turned and shot, but his try ended up in the goalkeeper's hands.
-At 35', 'Hormiga' caught a rebound inside the area and when he shot, the defender was able to deflect so that the ball reached Blanco without any problems.
At 38', Armando González had another chance, and after a quick recovery inside the area, he tried to cross his shot with a half-turn, but it went wide.
-CLOSE 'CHARAL'! Cisernos took a free kick from the left at 44', which hit the rival goalkeeper and then hit the post; the rebound fell to Briseño, who was brought down inside the area and, after a VAR review, a penalty kick was awarded to Guadalajara.
