22/09/2024 00:23 / Roberto García

Guadalajara gave a good footballing performance tonight at the Ciudad de los Deportes Stadium, but it was not enough to win against Cruz Azul, losing by the minimum difference. Chivas remains with 14 points at the end of Day 9 of the Apertura 2024.

The match between the Red-and-Whites and the Cementeros was extremely even, as they put on a great show for those in attendance at the Capital Rojiblanca. However, it was a set piece that cost Fernando Gago's men the match.

The Rebaño Sagrado's next match will be at home, when they host Rayados on Saturday, September 28 at the Akron Stadium.

The goal

-The light-blue team took the lead at 59' from a corner kick taken by Ignacio Rivero in the heart of the box, which left 'Tala' with no chance.

Dangerous chances

-At minute 11, the 'Hormiga' appeared with a header that worried the Celeste defense after a great associative play by the Red-and-Whites.
-At 18', Alan Mozo was in cracking form with an individual action that ended in a shot at goal, but couldn't go in.
At 49', 'Piojo' came close, cut back towards the center and sent a low left-footed shot that demanded Mier, who deflected the ball to the limit.
-At 62', 'Nene' could have equalized, after a delayed diagonal by Mateo Chávez that Beltrán finished off, but the Blue defense denied him.
-'Hormiga' was inches away from equalizing at 76', when he shot in the small area, the ball hit the crossbar and then Mier's back, but when it seemed to go in, the goalkeeper blocked the ball.
-Another González header at 79' from a service by 'Oso', which demanded the goalkeeper's flight.
-In the 90th minute, Marín had a chance, who shot at Mier with a half-volley, but the Colombian player kept his hand out to send the ball to the corner kick.
