How many minutes did Chivas go without conceding a goal at home?

Chivas' performance against Rayados left us with several aspects to analyze, however, there is one in particular that is worth highlighting due to its historical value. On Saturday night, the Rebaño managed to surpass their previous records without conceding a goal at home, and we'll tell you all about this memorable event below.

The defensive unit led by Raúl Rangel went a total of 717 minutes without conceding a goal and left behind previous records, since in 1965 the team went 697 minutes, while in 1972 it reached 709 minutes.

The streak established by the defense that today defends the red and white was built as follows. It began last season, when they kept a clean sheet against Querétaro on game day 16 of CL24. Subsequently, Guadalajara kept their goal intact in the Liguilla of that tournament against Toluca and América, and extended it in AP24 again against the Diablos, in addition to Mazatlán, Juárez, León and practically the entire match against Monterrey, as the Guadalajara team was 3 minutes away from 8 unbeaten matches.

Previously, the Red and White team of the 1971-1972 season had gone 709 minutes without allowing a goal against Puebla, San Luis, León, Club Jalisco, Monterrey, Veracruz, Zacatepec and the first minutes against Pumas, specifically between January and April '72.

The other streak, which dates back to the 1964-1965 campaign, began on matchday 7 against América, followed by Toluca, Zacatecas, Pumas, Veracruz, Morelia and concluded against Atlante.

Of course, the work of Fernando Gago's team is collective, but we must recognize the impeccable performance of the Chiverío defense, led by the best Mexican goalkeeper of the moment: Raúl Rangel. There is also, of course, the participation of the defenders who have contributed from their positions to make Chivas Rayadas history, from Gilberto Sepúlveda, Gilberto Chiquete and Antonio Briseño in the center, or Alan Mozo, José Castillo, Mateo Chávez and Jesús Sánchez on their respective sides.

So much so that several of them have been recognized in several days as the most outstanding players of the Apertura 2024 and have even been considered by National Teams to be part of the senior and youth processes in different categories.

Guadalajara's objectives are built through chapters like this one, so we are sure that the future is more than promising for the club and the entire Rojiblanca Nation.
