Chivas' convincing turnaround to defeat Necaxa

22/10/2024 22:25 / Roberto García

With a demonstration of character and a strike at the right moments, Guadalajara came from behind to defeat Necaxa on Tuesday night at the Akron Stadium, on the 13th matchday of the Apertura 2024, thus joining the winning streak and getting into the fight for a direct ticket to the Liguilla. El Rebaño Sagrado reached 21 points, which puts them in seventh place in the overall standings.

The start of the match was an uphill struggle for the Rojiblancos, as they lost 'Piojo' Alvarado to injury within 4 minutes and found themselves down on the scoreboard. However, Chivas never gave up, was patient and at all times sought to win the match, which, added to Arturo Ortega's changes in the second half, helped the team to flow on the field and score three great goals that the Chiva Nation screamed at the top of their lungs.

The Rebaño Sagrado will now look to seal a perfect 9-point week when they visit Puebla this Friday, October 25 at the Cuauhtémoc Stadium.

Goals

-At 4', Necaxa took the lead with a shot in the six-yard box by Tomás Badaloni after a rebound from a corner kick.
-Cade Cowell came off the bench in the 49th minute to equalize, when he closed the gap on a low service from Mateo Chávez on the left, so close that it hit the post and entered the Necaxa goal.
-WHAT A GOAL YOU SCORED, 4K! At 55', Marín appeared in the penalty spot to spectacularly connect a cross from the left by Yael Padilla, as he scored a brilliant goal with a 'taquito' to the far post in one of the best goals of the AP24.
-Now 'Pocho' Guzmán was the one to make his presence felt at 58', with a superb volley that he connected as it came in and beat Unsain after Yael's cross from the right.
-The rival scored the equalizer at 78', when a deflection by the defense left Ricardo Monreal one-on-one, who scored in front of 'Tala'.

Highlights

-We hadn't even reached the first minute of play when 'Piojo' made a warning with a mid-range shot that went close to the Hidro-Ray goal.
At 19', Ricardo Marín made his presence felt in the opponent's area, who received the ball between two players, pulled the ball back and shot left-footed to the near post, inches from the goal.
-Mateo Chávez tried to surprise on 23', when he found space on the left flank and when everyone was waiting for the service to the area, he looked for the first post, but hit the side netting.
-At 31', Chiquete got up inside the box to head a corner kick from the right, but it went just over the crossbar.
Chiquete tried again at 45', this time from distance and with a left-footed shot, into Unsain's hands.
-Cowell had a chance at 61'! Cowell was left alone inside the area, received the ball and, seeing the goalkeeper's path, tried to shoot at the opposite post, but he smashed the ball into the side netting.
-What Unsain pulled out! It was Marín's brace at 63' after two great individual actions by Castillo and Padilla; the latter served to the front post for '4K' who only deflected the ball, but the goalkeeper managed to get his hand under it.
-Yael looked for his goal at 80', with a right-footed shot that went over the goal.
