The memory of a vibrant night for Guadalajara

29/10/2024 14:21 / Enrique Noriega

Matchday 15 of the Apertura 2024 is approaching and it is time to remember a very special episode in the rivalry between Guadalajara and Pumas, since the last time the Universitarios visited the Perla Tapatía, several things happened that made the night of February 2, 2024 a memorable moment for the Chiva Nation.

It was Matchday 8 of the Clausura 2024 and the Rebaño Sagrado was playing host to Pumas at the Akron Stadium. If the rivalry alone is already very attractive for spectators, that night had several special ingredients.

The match was dominated by Guadalajara from start to finish and that was reflected in the result, as the Rojiblanca side won 3-1, thanks to goals from Cade Cowell, Antonio Briseño and Víctor Guzmán. The first goal made the Akron vibrate, as after several good performances, the 'Cowell' scored his first goal with the Rebaño Sagrado in Liga MX. The second goal brought everyone to their feet, as the 'Pollo' took to the air and, with his characteristic hierarchy, scored an unreachable header. The goal that ended the match was a gem, as Roberto Alvarado left two opponents stranded and set up 'Pocho', who calmly sent it into the back of the net.

As if Cowell's scoring debut and the Rebaño's resounding victory were not enough, the night was crowned with the return of Javier Hernández, who 5,082 days later, returned to play a league match with Club Deportivo Guadalajara.
