Chivas are just a few hours away from their debut in the CONCACAF Champions Cup 2025, as this Thursday night they visit Cibao FC in the first leg of the first round of the continental competition.
How did they qualify for Concacaf 2025?
- Guadalajara qualified by being the second highest scoring team in Liga MX in the AP23-CL24 season.
- Cibao FC reached this stage after being crowned champions in their domestic league, which allowed them to access the 2024 Caribbean Cup, in which they left teams such as Real Hope of Haiti in the way. Even losing in the final against Jamaica's Cavalier, they still managed to get their ticket.
What is the story of Chivas' rival?
Cibao FC will celebrate just over a decade of existence in March and despite their short history in football, they have five league titles and two Caribbean Cups to their name. In fact, the Dominican team is currently ranked 83rd in the CONCACAF Zone.
The player to watch
Rivaldo Correa is the player to watch for at Cibao, as he scored six goals in the Copa prior to this tournament. Correa is a 25-year-old Colombian-born striker who has been playing for the Caribbean squad since 2024.

- The only previous meeting of the Cibao side in the CONCACAF Champions Cup was against Guadalajara in the 2018 edition. On that occasion, the Rebaño won the first leg by 0-2 and won the final match 5-0.
