With hunger and unity, Guadalajara defeats Pumas at C.U.

01/03/2025 23:40 / Club Deportivo Guadalajara

Mexico City - In an undeniable show of unity, Chivas was incisive and fought until the end to get the three points at Ciudad Universitaria. The Tapatío team never stopped fighting and never gave up until they defeated Pumas 1-0 in Matchday 10 of the Clausura 2025.

After this important victory, the Rebaño Sagrado will return to the Perla Tapatía to get in the best conditions for the three matches they will play against América in the CONCACAF Champions Cup and Liga MX.

The first half had 30 minutes of much dispute and little clarity; however, after this period, Guadalajara settled down, took control of the ball and generated several goal opportunities that could not be crystallized by just a few centimeters.

In the second half, Chivas continued with their aggressive posture and commanded the actions, even when the ball refused to enter the Pumas goal. The Rebaño Sagrado's insistence was such that Luis Rey scored the winning goal in the last minute of the second half, giving the Rojiblanca the three points and sealing his first goal in Liga MX.

The winning goal

- It was at 92' when Guadalajara, after insisting throughout the match, managed to open the scoring. It was through Luis Rey, who had only been on the field for a few minutes. After a series of rebounds that ended up in his domain, he sent the ball into the back of the net.

The dangerous ones:

- At 34' Javier Hernández came within a whisker of opening the scoring, as he broke free at the far post, just to the area where Alan Mozo sent a venomous cross, but 'Chicharo's' header grazed the university post.
- At 36', Guadalajara again came within a whisker of scoring in fixed tactics, after a good service from 'Piojo' was won by José Castillo, who put in a cross that was just wide for the Rebaño's 14th player.
- At 38', Luis Romo left the feline goal vibrating, with a powerful right-footed shot that the Pumas goalkeeper managed to scrape, sending the ball over the crossbar.
- At 56', 'Chicharito' crashed the ball against the crossbar, after a great play by Hugo Camberos on the left flank, who sent a low cross that reached Hernandez's left foot, who shot a shot that hit the crossbar.
- At 76', Roberto Alvarado came close after a service from Mozo, when he turned his head too far and the ball went wide.
