Francisco Palencia to be inducted into the International Soccer Hall of Fame

07/04/2025 18:24 / Roberto García

The history of Club Deportivo Guadalajara is rich in quality players, who have helped build an important legacy for the Rojiblanco Nation thanks to their memorable performances wearing the Rojiblanca. The perfect example of this is that FIFA has recognized on multiple occasions, both in life and in memory, various players and coaches who left their mark during their time with Chivas.

Now it is the turn of Juan Francisco Palencia, a striker who played for Mexico's most beloved and popular team between 2003 and 2005, and who was always highly valued by the ChivaHermanos while he played for the Rebaño Sagrado: the 'Gatillero' was voted by the International Soccer Hall of Fame Committee to join the 13th generation of the prestigious hall of fame, along with 17 other national and international legends.

As we have already mentioned, 'Paco' arrived at Guadalajara for the 2003 Apertura to form part of a memorable offense that will live on in the fans' memories, along with names such as Omar Bravo, 'Venado' Medina, 'Bofo' Bautista, among others. In total, Palencia played 73 Liga MX matches with the Rebaño Sagrado, scored 13 goals and led the team to the 2004 Clausura Final.

His history with the Chiverío did not end there, as he also played for Chivas USA between 2005 and 2006. In addition, after his retirement as a player, he served as Sports Director of the institution between 2013 and 2014.
